Description This work explores the possibility of a new cost-effective treatment process for the manufacture of Fibre Metal Laminates. Conventionally, Fibre Metal laminates are prepared by chemical treatment of the aluminium layers prior to bonding with the film adhesive and prepreg. Due to the high cost process, the application is restricted to highly sophisticated applications like aircraft industry where performance overrides cost. In this work a cheaper mechanical treatment for the aluminium is tried out in place of the conventional chemical treatment.
