In spite of its bad plasticity and the increasing deficit of certain metals (W, Mo, V, Cr), the high speed steel has a great advantage, which is its tenacity. In recent years, investigations have been carried out to the development of new high speed steels without tungsten weakly allied to the molybdenum. The aim of this paper is to specify the influence of the silicon on high speed steel allied to the molybdenum . We studied the structure, the composition of phases, the hot hold and the chemical composition of the eutectic carbide Me6C. We also studied the influence of the silicon in quantities of 0.8, 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5% on the composition of phases, the structure and properties of high speed steel without tungsten and with the molybdenum HS 0-5-1, directly to the as-cast condition, after tempering and annealing. |
