| Description |
Fire in non-coal mines is relatively a rare event compared to coal mines. The leading ignition sources are electricity in underground fires and engine heat in reported surface fires. Underground fires occur in non-coal mines, most often in haulageway or drift areas, and surface fire occur most often in plant and mill buildings. Electricity is the main cause for occurrence of fire in non-coal mines. The purpose of this paper is to present the case studies of global status of fire in non-coal mines with suitable suggestive measures for prevention and control.
