Description Encapsulation of amphotericin B in tuftsin-bearing liposomes greatly increased its efficacy in treatment of human aspergillosis in mice. Also, the drug efficacy was significantly increased by pretreating the animals with drug-free tuftsin-bearing liposomes. These results demonstrate that macrophage activation can considerably enhance the therapeutic efficacy of antifungal drugs, like amphotericin B.
