Description an efficient synthetic strategy for the preparation of new chiral macrocyclic Cr(III) salen complexes has been demonstrated. Among all the complexes prepared complex 34 showed excellent activity and enantioselectivity in AKR of racemic trans epoxides and ARO of meso epoxides with anilines as nucleophile at RT and the results are found to be superior than the monomeric and polymeric Cr(III) salen complexes as reported earlier for these reactions. Additionally, the macrocyclic Cr(III)salen complex 34 was efficiently recovered and reused several times and scaled up to 10 mmol.
