Description |
The reaction between hydrogen peroxide and hydriodic acid has been used in the iodimetric acid of peroxide1, The slowness of the reaction is a disadvantage.kolthoff2 recommended the addition of three drops of 20 per cent solution of ammonium molybdate as a catalyst which renders the reaction almost instantaneous under the prescribed conditions. but it was reported3 that the reaction has to be carried out in an atmosphere of carbon dioxide, otherwise the atmospheric oxidation of hydriodic acid is also accelerated.
