Description The paper presents an algorithm for developing river quality prediction system. The algorithm duly incorporates the velocity variation along the cross sectional area of the river system. The algorithm also takes the dimensional variation along the river stretches. The settling velocity of the settle able bio-flocculated particulate matters has been duly considered while simulating the water quality dispersion along the river stretch. The algorithm contains five parts including user authentication module, velocity estimation module, flow rate computation module, water quality predictive module and presentation module. The application of algorithm will be useful for environmentalists for devising suitable mitigative measures for protecting river ecoenvironment.
