Description Liromosoidvs curinii infection: pathophysiological changes in the infected albino rat. International Journalfor Purasitology 18: 103-l 07. Infection of albino rats with Litornosoides car&ii induced changes in several physiological and biochemical parameters of liver and spleen. Significant increase in spleen weight was noted. Liver glycogen and RNA decreased and ascorbic acid of both liver and spleen was adversely affected. Activity of glvcolytic enzymes in the liver increased concomitant with decreases in neoglucogenic enzyme activities. Glucose-h-phosphate dehydrogenase and 6-phosphogluconic dehydrogenase activities also increased during the course of infection. Impairment of glucose utilization along with increased production of lactic acid were found in infected liver slices.
