Description |
Samples of 5 types of cinnamon commonly marketed in India were analysed to establish the characteristic differences in their colour, aroma, paste, yield of oil and TLC and GLC profiles. Yield of volatile oil ranged from 0.5 to 2.5%; and the TLC and GLC profiles of the oils showed marked differences. The need for standardization of cinnamon var. sold in the market is stressed.
